Our class set out to test-fly our kites. The skies were clear, and the wind conditions seemed favorable for good flying. We were excited to test our designs. Our flight area was in an open field with no power lines, so we would be safe. We readied our stopwatch, and notebooks. Ms. Rossi set up the camera. Jess and Amina were first to step up to the take-off position. They launched their large kite into the air on a gust of wind. Things looked promising at first. Then the dowel snapped, dropping the kite unceremoniously back to the ground. Jess and Amina were very disappointed.
